(20 Feb 2018) White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Tuesday President Donald Trump has repeatedly acknowledged that Russia meddled in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
But she insisted that meddling "didn't have an impact" on the election and there was "no help from the Trump campaign."
Sanders was adamant that Trump "has been tougher on Russia in his first year than Obama was in eight years combined," despite not implementing sanctions against Russia passed by Congress.
Asked about a weekend tweet in which the president criticized the FBI, Sanders said the White House "would like our FBI agencies to not be focused on something that is clearly a hoax in terms of investigating the Trump campaign and its involvement."
