Telangana Government Offering Pattu Vastralu to Sitha Rama Kalyanam | Bhadrachalam | YOYO TV Channel
On the occasion of Ram Navami, the Sri Sitharamachandra Swamy Temple at Bhadrachalam is setting the perfect example of communal harmony on March 25, Sunday. It is believed that long time back, Hyderabad State’s Muslim rulers set a tradition of presenting tributes and gifts to the temple to mark the Ram Navami festival. Till this date, the government makes an offering of ‘mutyala talambralu’ (sacred rice mixed with pearls, saffron and turmeric) and ‘pattu vastralu’ every Ram Navami at the temple. The tradition of offering gifts by the state was started during the Qutb Shahi period and this was continued by Asaf Jahis, as told by historian Mohammad Safiullah. This heritage of passing down gifts has been kept alive by governments after Independence too. According to Saifullah, the temple at Bhadrachalam was built by Kancharla Gopanna, who was the nephew of Akkanna and Madanna- senior officials in the court of Qutb Shahi king Abul Hasan Tana Shah between 1672 and 1687.

On the occasion of Ram Navami, the Sri Sitharamachandra Swamy Temple at Bhadrachalam is setting the perfect example of communal harmony on March 25, Sunday. On this day, the temple is decorated with colourful electric bulbs in queer patterns and welcome arches are erected along the main entrances in and around the temple town. VVIPs in Hyderabad and elsewhere in the State have been given Sitarama Kalyana Mahotsavam invitation cards by the temple authorities personally to mark the festival. Apart from this, the temple authorities made separate temporary queues for offering prayers to Lord Rama in the main temple to avoid chaos.
Not only this, ahead of Ram Navami celebrations, priests performed Dwajapata Lekhanam in Chinna Jeeyar Matam inside the temple. The priests painted Garuda Bird on cloth and conducted special pujas. As part of the celebrations, The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) would be plying at least 367 special buses to Bhadrachalam from Khammam, Karimnagar, Warangal and Nalgonda districts from March 25 to 27.
