It's sure been a long while since the last time I did one of these. 2 months ago now, making this now the longest I've gone between episodes by a lot. By this point though, my garage collection is finally nearly complete with the only 5 cars left that I actually want pretty much now all priced at or near the $20 million credit cap. Aside from when I finally get my hands on an expensive car I want, all I can do now is either wait for updates for more cars to be added, or wait to get lucky by getting a special, power increasing part from the roulette wheel, actually giving me a reason to use certain cars again. Needless to say, I'm now only very slowly building up new sets of cars to use for these installments. It doesn't help that Polyphony has been less active with updates recently with this January being the first month since the game came out to have no monthly update which partially contributed to the delay of the next installment. Finally got one last month adding 5 new cars, 4 of which are in this race including the 1965 Honda F1 car.
It took a long time but episode 22 of our half-hour speed wars is finally here. And how fitting that I end up posting this on the 1-year anniversary from when GT7 was released last year. There's a healthy blend of 10 new cars I have yet to use and 10 more from previous races which have since gotten a special part, engine swap, livery update, etc. Aside from the '65 Honda F1 car, 2 separate McLaren F1 Race Cars, Ferrari 330 P4 Race Car, Ford GT40, Chevy Corvette Stingray Racer Concept, and the oldest car in the game, the 1929 Mercedes S Barker Tourer make up the most notable new entries. The Ford Roadster & Lamborghini Countach have both had engine swaps. At this point I reuse cars in races all the time, just with either a different livery or more power than before, or perhaps both. But for the first time in this series, I'm reusing a car that I specifically drove myself in a previous installment. The Bugatti Veyron which I also drove all the way back in the 2nd installment. Only difference now is I have over 100 more HP thanks to acquiring the ultra-high RPM turbo, now cranking out well in excess of 1300+ HP. It now runs about 290 MPH, about roughly 10 MPH faster. Although it can be stupidly hard to control, even in a straight line, as it's just too powerful for it's own good. The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is also being reused for a second time which is another first in this series, with yet another updated livery, and setup.
It's another dark, cloudy morning for this race. And I've now noticed I've done cloudy races 3 times in a row now, so I'm gonna try to change that up next time. Whenever next time ends up being that is, because I really don't know at this point. Of course it took me 2 months just to get this installment up, and I have good reason to believe that the next installment won't come out for even longer. And even when it finally does, it'll probably be the last episode for a very long time, or possibly altogether even. I said a couple installments ago a few months back that this series had reached the beginning of the end, I think now it's a lot closer to just the end in general.
