Shadow business secretary Kevin Hollinrake says Labour have "made mistakes" with releasing prisoners early in a bid to relieve pressure on the prison system.
Despite the Tory government having also released prisoners early, Mr Hollinrake says they always "made sure" prisoners were "not a danger to society".
He tells Sky News that Labour "need to be held to account" and continue Tory plans to build more prisons.
