Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu was forced to cut short his speech at a liquour licensing meeting after Kikuyu residents booed him off the stage. Drama unfolded in Kikuyu town when the governor stood to address the residents, most of them traders. Moments into his speech, the traders started expressing their displeasure with the governor. The traders disagreed with the governor after he ordered that local MCA's serve as returning officers in the elections. The meeting had been called to elect commitee members under the alcohol and drinks control act that was recently passed to oversee the licensing of various clubs in the county.
