Teachers celebrated in Los Angeles on Tuesday after learning a deal had been reached between their union and Los Angeles Schools which would end the almost week long strike.
The strike has gone for six days and seen more than U.S.$125 million in lost revenue. About 600,000 students had been left in limbo as teachers hit the picket lines.
The deal is pending teachers voting in favour of the deal, but the union expects the agreement to be approved.
