The week kicked off with heaps of excitement as candidates for the new Primary Student Council stepped up to the plate. The entire school community was abuzz after listening to the five students' speeches (Stefania, Valentina, Catarina, XiaoYu and Francisco), taking time to mull over their proposals, cast their votes, and await the outcome.

Valentina, one of the contenders, shared her thoughts: “With the election of the Student Council, we're all winners. It’s about improving our school each year by listening to different ideas, sharing them, and bringing them to life as much as we can.”

Come Friday, the results were in: XiaoYun has been elected as president, and we’re fortunate to have not one, but two vice-presidents following a tie between Catarina and Francisco.

Our Year 5 students have been exploring various ways to organise a state, delving into how democratic elections work and how we choose institutions like parliament or elected roles such as the president. Electing our own Student Council is a fantastic way to embrace our responsibility and organise our community in the best possible way.
