Lhasa, also known as Logos and Sunshine City, is a prefecture-level city and capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region, and an international tourist city with snowy plateau and ethnic characteristics in China, as approved by the State Council. The city has a total area of 31,662 square kilometers . As of 2018, the city has three districts and five counties under its jurisdiction, with a built-up area of 82.82 km2. As of November 1, 2020, the resident population of Lhasa is 867,891,000 people.In 2021, Lhasa will achieve a regional GDP of 74.184 billion yuan, an increase of 6.7% over 2020.
Lhasa is located in southwest China, in the middle of the Tibetan plateau, on the north side of the Himalayas, in the middle valley plain of the Lhasa River, a tributary of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, through which the Lhasa River flows and is injected into the Yarlung Tsangpo River in the southern suburbs, and is the political, economic, cultural, and scientific and educational center of Tibet, as well as a sacred site of Tibetan Buddhism. The altitude is 3,650 meters and the weather is mostly sunny all year round. The sunshine time is more than 3000 hours throughout the year, which is known as the "Sunshine City". Lhasa is rich in resources of all kinds and has obvious advantages over other cities in the country and the autonomous region.
Lhasa is one of the first national historical and cultural cities, famous for its beautiful scenery, long history, unique customs and folklore, and rich religious colors. 7th century, Songtsen Gampo unified the whole Tibet and moved the political center from Shannan to Lhasa. In 2017, Lhasa was reviewed and confirmed to continue to retain the honorary title of national civilized city. on April 2, 2018, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Development and Reform Commission released the list of cities supporting the construction of innovative cities in a new batch of cities, 17 cities in the country were selected, and Lhasa was listed among them. In November 2018, it was selected as one of the top 100 Chinese cities in the overall well-off index. in October 2020, it was named a national model city (county) for double support.
