Fuel prices will rise again at midnight. The increases announced yesterday by the Mineral and Energy Department are not as steep as they would have been if the fuel levy had not been lowered. Government announced last week that the general fuel levy would be lowered by R1.50 per litre until the end of May in order to provide some relief to consumers. The price changes coming into effect tomorrow see 93 Octane petrol going up by 28-cents a litre and 95 octane by 36 cents. Diesel will see the steepest increase, going up by between R1.52 and R1.68 cents per litre. Illuminating paraffin is up by R2.66 cents a litre. These price hikes are all on the back of soaring oil prices in the last month.
