The Australian Redback spider is known throughout the land down under for its venomous bite and red stripe. Although these gals can pack a punch they will rarely bite unless provoked or otherwise pinned or pinched. Widow spiders exist on most of the major continents and are famous for their supposed cannibalistic tendencies. While most people believe that widow spiders consistently eat the male after mating this is rarely the case in the wild. Things aren’t always as they appear!
