A man has died after being bitten by a shark while fishing off the coast of Central Queensland.
The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Luke Walford, who was tragically bitten by a shark near Humpy Island in The Keppels on Saturday afternoon.
The incident unfolded at around 4:30pm on Saturday while Mr Walford was out fishing with his family at the popular holiday destination.
Paramedics say they treated him at the scene for a bite to his neck, but he couldn’t be saved and died just before 6pm.
Local member for Keppel Nigel Hutton has expressed his condolences and says the community’s thoughts and prayers are with Mr Walford’s family.
