Edward Luce is the Washington columnist and commentator at the Financial Times. He has worked at the FT since 1995 and served as Washington bureau chief from 2006 – 2011.
Luce has published three books: The Retreat of Western Liberalism (2017), Time to Start Thinking: America and the Spectre of Decline (2012) and In Spite of the Gods: The Strange Rise of Modern India (2006).
He was speechwriter for Larry Summers, US Secretary of Treasury in President Bill Clinton’s administration, from 1999 – 2001.
Luce graduated from University of Oxford with a degree in politics, philosophy and economics in 1990. He completed a post-graduate diploma from City, University of London in 1993.
