From notable photographers to candid community captures to distinguished graphic and visual artists, Los Pleneros de la 21's performances, programs, musicians, and the experiences they have crafted for four decades have been a source of inspiration for many culture bearers, Bomba and Plena practitioners, and the Puerto Rican community in New York City.
Join Juan J. Gutiérrez, Founder/Director of Los Pleneros de la 21, and other members as they give light and share stories around the group's 40-year trajectory and the vision behind the photography exhibit. Hear personal memories and reflections of the pleneres and bomberes who have led the helm and played the songs that cemented the Bomba and Plena landscape of New York—moderated by Elena Martínez, followed by a Q&A with the audience, facilitated by Ray Laur.
