My old (alternate) fly reel that I've been using to hold my sink tip fly line was not providing much drag even at max setting. I decided to crack it open and see if I could find out why. After some poking around, I figured out a simple fix that got my drag operational again with no new parts needed.
... Actually, thinking about it more... the nut/washer compression of a fibrous disc (which is under that flat round metal piece and sits between the washer and nut) is probably what provides the friction drag (not friction against the spool). So eventually I made need to find some alternate material for that disc.
