This edition of Politics Today looks at the tussle for the National Assembly leadership in Nigeria and the mock election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that saw the emergence of Senator Ahmed Lawan as the party candidate for the Senate Presidency.
On the programme, a member of the ruling APC and a member of the House of Representatives from Kwara State, Honourable Razak Atunwa, said the mock election was a 'not an election but a mockery of an election'.
"We do not regard the legitimacy or legality of the exercise. It is neither provided for in the constitution of Nigeria nor that of the APC," he said.
Senator Bukola Saraki, who is also seeking the position of the Senate President, did not take part in the election and had rejected the outcome of the election.
