President Donald Trump arrived in Brussels Tuesday on the eve of high-stakes NATO meetings after blasting allies on defense spending.
The president landed in Belgium amid a series of attacks on the 69-year-old trans-Atlantic mutual defense pact.
He has repeatedly delivered broadsides against the other member nations, suggesting they don't pay enough. In a tweet from Air Force, Trump suggested he may demand those nations "reimburse" the United States.
Trump will spend Wednesday at the summit, the first stop of his four-nation European tour.
He has unnerved allies that he could damage the pact while potentially embracing Russian President Vladimir Putin, with whom he will meet next week in Finland.
Trump arrived in Belgium amid the soccer-mad nation's World Cup semifinals match vs. France.
