Sweetwater Main Street is a nationally accredited Main Street program, the first city certified as both a Tennessee Downtown and a National Main Street. Sweetwater’s Main Street district generates over $11,000,000 in gross sales each year and provides over 400 jobs. We’re known for our antique shopping district and picturesque downtown. But Sweetwater Main Street is more than any one business, it’s many individuals, government agencies, volunteers, and business owners working together to preserve our heritage and create sustainable economic development. Inside the Sweetwater Main Street boundaries, you will find a diverse selection of business and commercial enterprises including 4 restaurants, 5 antique stores, 5 clothing boutiques, a florist and gift shop, a spa, two auto dealerships, two auto repair shops, a home improvement store, two banks, a retail gallery, 2 barber shops, two home décor stores with onsite interior design professionals, several professional offices including medical and home health clinics, lawyers, an architect, a surplus store, insurance agents, a tanning salon, physical therapists, non-profits, and financial advisors; a hair salon, the IOOF lodge, Sweetwater Post Office, City Hall, Sweetwater Utilities Board, Sweetwater Public Library, Sweetwater Heritage Museum, the Sweetwater Visitor’s Center & Depot, two public parks, and a produce stand. Needless to say the Main Street district makes an extensive economic impact on the City of Sweetwater, and consistently invests in local non-profits and our schools. This past year we have welcomed four new businesses. In 2018, we expect to welcome a new coffee shop and bakery and an Italian restaurant. Downtown hosts numerous annual events, with 2017 bringing an estimated 45,000 new visitors to Sweetwater. Sweetwater Main Street has been awarded and distributed over $50,000 in grant funding to small businesses. Our annual fundraisers and monthly meetings are a great way to support Sweetwater Main Street’s goals. As always, shop local whenever you can!”
