Palletizing and layer forming dairy products: [ Ссылка ]
FANUC America Authorized System Integrator Motion Controls Robotics designed and integrated this fully automated layer building, palletizing, and pallet removal system for a dairy product manufacturer. The system features two FANUC M-410iB robots specifically designed for palletizing. The FANUC palletizing robots’ acceleration and high speed keeps the system running smoothly at the desired rate.
Additionally, the system features six FANUC M-10iA material handling robots for orienting and moving cases into the build area. Cases coming down an infeed conveyor are scanned sorting them by flavor and assigning them to a preset layer-building robot in the correct build area. Each case is placed based on a programmed orientation to build a complete product layer. There are six layer build areas with two palletizing robots picking finished layers. The FANUC M-410iB palletizing robot’s high speed and flexibility allows for just two robots to place full layers on three pallet locations each.
Strategically placed HMIs track the infeed, build, and exit conveyor areas counting the progression of the layers in each of the 6 building stations and informing the manufacturer of system status. When a layer is complete, the product is moved through to the palletizing robot pick area.
The manufacturer has a variety of product types and sizes. Different case sizes are directed and sorted into the proper build areas. The material handling robots are equipped with an End of arm tool designed for efficient handling of the case. Once a pallet is complete, it is transferred from the palletizing position on a conveyor to one of the two stretch wrapper stations. The pallet is tightly wrapped to keep contents neatly contained.
Upon completion of a pallet, a new pallet request is triggered and the automated pallet dispenser sends a new pallet that is waiting for the next layer- with no delay in the palletizing rate or pattern. The stretch wrapped pallet continues on the journey to cold storage or the shipping area where it is placed for delivery. This robotic application is designed to be a hands-off, end of line solution – fully automated from beginning to end. The dairy product manufacturer has seen a marked reduction in labor issues related to their cold work environment and has plans to add the same system in other locations.
