Evergreens have long been viewed as a symbol of hope and promise of brighter days ahead, because even in the darkest, coldest months, they remain steadfastly green. Although evergreens evolved to withstand snowy mountain climates, we do have one native evergreen in southwest Ohio, the Eastern Redcedar, and there are many other species that have been brought to the area.
