Russian Navy’s Admiral Grigorovich-class frigate (Project 11356) Admiral Essen has destroyed Ukraine’s unmanned aircraft of Turkish Bayraktar type, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced.The Shtil-1 anti-aircraft missile system. The medium-range multi-channel anti-aircraft missile system “Shtil-1” is designed to destroy all modern air attack weapons at medium ranges and target altitudes from 5 m to 15 km.
The complex was developed by the Moscow Research Institute of Radio Electronics “Altair” and is a further development of the M-22 “Uragan” air defense system. The 9M317ME anti-aircraft guided missile, which is part of the Shtil-1 complex, was created by the Dolgoprudny Research and Production Enterprise [DNPP] and unified with the missile of the Buk-M2 and Buk-M3 land-based air defense systems. The complex was first demonstrated at the international exhibition Defexpo India 2004.
