This is what a 2003 R1 5PW sounds like when it needs a new engine.
Cylinder number 4 Big end failure.
41k miles.
cam chain fine
valves fine.
top end fine.
this may have been due to harsh down shifts, without a slipper clutch, releasing the clutch too fast and not rev matching aswell as you should can cause bottom end stress.
also false neutrals when grabbing a hand full of throttle can be fatal.
mechanical sympathy for older bikes and regular oil changes are a must.
