Continuing our day in South Coast of Iceland, from Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon, we headed out to Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. Jokulsarlon literally means “glacial river lagoon”. Here you can see luminous blue icebergs floating as it heads towards the Atlantic Ocean.
Just right across the road, you have the Diamond Beach. This is where the icebergs flowed out will be “beached” along the black sand sea front. With the sunlight shining upon the icebergs, reflecting incredible glistering lights around us, much like a diamond attracting a woman’s eyes.
After visiting Diamond Beach, we headed back to Fosshotel for lunch but on our way back we stopped by to view the beautiful luminous blue ice-capped mountain. It was simply amazing.
After lunch we headed out to Reynisfjara near Vik, another black sand beach, with beautiful basalt rock formation, creating an incredible landscape to be enjoyed. Why is the sand black? It is because of the volcanic lava flowing into the ocean, gets cooled and turned into beach sand.
Thereafter, we started out 5 hour journey back to Reykjavik, capital of Iceland.
