(28 Apr 2017) The 43rd edition of one of the Spanish-speaking world's most important literary festivals opened its doors in Buenos Aires on Thursday night.
The Buenos Aires International Book Fair increasingly attracts book lovers from throughout the world and the 2017 edition counts on the participation of global figureheads like Peruvian Nobel Laureate for Literature Mario Vargas Llosa and his South African counterpart, J. M. Coetzee.
Argentine novelist Luisa Valenzuela gave the opening address on Thursday night.
The fair runs for 19 days and regularly counts on more than a million visitors and offers a labyrinth of books.
Sideline events, from spoken word performances to a YouTubers pavilion, will run in tandem and presentations by authors from different genres and styles will also be offered.
This year's special guest city at the fair is the US city of Los Angeles.
