My TEDx talk explores the joys, confusions, and deepest curiosities of having a bicultural identity. As a blend of two vibrant cultures—Chinese and Australian—I’ll share my experiences of never fitting into a single box while celebrating how my uniqueness bridges different worlds. By looking beyond myself, I capture the universal voices and feelings of mixed-race people. Ultimately, being ‘mixed’ is more than appearances; it’s a constant journey of self-discovery. I encourage everyone to live courageously and embrace their authentic, multi-faceted selves. Jessica Hehir is a student in Shanghai. Having been recently awarded the IGCSE Scholarship for next academic year, she is a well-rounded leader and role model to others. Jessica is very passionate about sports, football in particular. In her journey, she has attended many ACAMIS sports tournaments and other school competitions. It was during these
opportunities that Jessica met countless new faces, many being mixed-race like herself. This began her new-found interest in self-discovery and embracing her bi-cultural identity. Through the support of her teachers and parents, she was motivated to express her ‘idea worth spreading’ to a wider community, which has brought her to the TEDx Stage. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
