Welcome to the sixth short funk drum lesson from my 13-part "Funky Stickings Funk Drum Beats" lesson series. In this drum lesson short, you will learn two more funk drum grooves that incorporate 16th notes on the bass drum. For these, the snare drum ghost note on the last 16th note of beat two has been replaced with the bass drum. This creates some space in the groove and adds a nice feel. #shorts

"Funky Stickings" is a paradiddle based (RLRR-LRRL) sticking pattern used by Tower of Power's David Garibaldi and other drum legends to create incredibly funky drum grooves. This drum sticking pattern has also been referred to as the "King Kong Beat". Whatever you want to call it, it's a fun drum pattern to play; it works well in numerous musical settings and it sounds great!
