Orvelte is a small village in the province Drenthe in the Netherlands. Orvelte is also called as the museum village (museumdorp) because of the unique Dutch cultural traits which are still prevalent here. Orvelte is full of museums which show the visitor how the ancient Dutch lived. Some of these special museums which you should visit when you are in Orvelte are,
- Orvelte poort: A small exposition on the honey bee and the bee products such as wax, bee hives and other bee related items.

- The Wooden shoe factory (Klompenfabriek) : The owner of the factory gives a demonstration on how the Dutch wooden shoes were made before the 1900's, during the industrialization period, from A to Z. The process ends with showing you how the shoes are being stacked in wooden cupboards according to different sizes.
- The Saw mill : The same owner will take you to this 17th century originated Saw mill, where you see how the tree trunks are being cut in horizontal planks. The end product can be seen next to the saw mill on the sides of the houses, above the frames.

Once a year, in the summer, there is a wool festival. In this wool festival, a Shepard cuts the wool off the sheep skin, so that this can be used to make beautiful garments and other textiles.
