This traditional curry recipe is made in all East Indian families, spicy and tangy, it is a natural coolant and prevents heat stroke specially good recipe for summer. The East Indians prepare this Prawns Kanji Curry recipe during the wedding ceremony. The main ingredient of this dish is rice gruel or kanji.
Ingredients:
Pumpkin – 150 grams
Ladyfingers/ Okra – 7 to 8
Drumsticks – 2 cut into pieces
Brinjals – 2 cut into halves
Onion sliced 1
Tomato – 1 chopped
Raw mango_ 1 chopped
Prawns _ 250 gm (cleaned,deveined and washed)
Rice gruel _2 cups (kanji)
Salt as per taste
Ingredients for making paste:
Coconut – 1/2 cup of freshly grated coconut
Coriander leaves – 1/2 a cup of green coriander leaves
Green Chillies – 6 to 7 green chillies
Coriander seed 1 tbsp
Cumin Seeds 1tsp
Tamarind – a small lemon size ball
Method:
In a pan add all the vegetables, turmeric powder and salt add little water and cook.
Add in the prawns and cook for two minutes.
Add sliced tomato and mango.
Add the green masala paste and fry for 2 minutes.
Now add 2 cups of rice gruel and
salt as per taste.
Cover and cook, simmer for fifteen minutes.
Prawn Kanji Curry is ready to serve , serve it with steamed rice.
Note:
Can adjust gravy as per consistency.
Can add vinegar instead of tamarind.
Can add vegetables as per your choice.
