There's a heated debate whether fabric or forge is better and I have to say that I prefer fabric, although it does lack some features and some mods that forge has.
I realize now that I haven't talked at all about 1.17 the caves and cliffs update...I'm still gonna put it in the title because it's relevant but my predictions are that fabric will get updated to every 1.17 snapshot and instantly released when the full version comes out while forge will take a bit longer but hopefully not as long as it took them back in 1.13 and 1.8.
