Today, I'll be presenting a new and improved credit card trifecta setup that you’ve probably never heard of.
There are so many great credit card trifectas out there! Three seems to be the magic number for credit card setups, whether it be the Amex Trifecta, the Chase Trifecta, or some other Trifecta.
But with changing consumer habits and countless credit cards to choose from, new and improved setups can potentially get you more value than the tried-and-true cards of the past.
I’m sure many of you have noticed the increasing access of mobile wallet payments at your favorite retail stores, grocery stores, gas stations, and even some restaurants!
That’s because mobile wallets are a convenient way to leave our credit cards at home but still have access to them, just like we always have for our everyday purchases.
And since mobile wallets cover multiple categories, traditional credit card categories that we’re familiar with can be lumped into one single category, the mobile wallet category, this can be covered into a new category, the mobile wallet category!
Of course, mobile wallets aren’t accepted everywhere, and these exceptions will be how we choose the other 2 cards in our trifecta.
The first card in the trifecta is the US Bank Altitude Reserve card, where you get 3X points back for mobile wallet purchases. This includes Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay. These points can be redeemed using the Altitude Rewards portal or by using Real-Time Rewards for a redemption rate of 1.5cpp, totaling a value of 4.5X points back on your mobile wallet spending! This card does come with a $400 annual fee, but it has an easy-to-use $325 annual statement credit for eligible dining and travel purchases, lowering the effective annual fee to just $75.
The second card in the trifecta is the Bilt Mastercard. Some restaurants do not have the option to use mobile wallets to pay while dining in, or it may be inconvenient to do so, so we need a card with a great dining multiplier. This card earns 3X points back on dining, 2X on travel, 1X on rent, and 1X points back on everything else for no annual fee. The points can be transferred out to transfer partners for elevated value, most notably American Airlines and World of Hyatt.
The third card in the trifecta is the Paypal Mastercard to cover online shopping where mobile wallets are not accepted which gets you 3% cash back on Paypal purchases and 2% cash back on everything else for no annual fee.
