Science and politics:you couldn't ask for a more explosive mix. In early 20th century Europe, a feud was taking place behind closed door the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences. Should relativity, a groundbreaking but still experimentally uncertain theory, be rewarded with the highest prize in the field? And should Albert Einstein, a rapidly rising professor emerged from the Bern patent office, be admitted to the pantheon of physical immortality?
The scientific community had already reached a unanimous agreement, and the pressure on the Academy was mounting. But one last opposer - an insider of the academy and a celebrate ophthalmologist - made it his personal goal to prevent the recognition of relativity. It would take another insider to overcome the obstruction, just in time for the vote of the following year.
