According to RBI Act, all scheduled commercial banks are required to maintain a certain percentage of their Net Demand and Time Liabilities with RBI as Cash Reserve.
The Cash Reserve Ratio refers to a certain percentage of total deposits that commercial banks are required to maintain in form of cash reserve with Central bank. RBI holds power to change CRR any time at its discretion.
