Dr. Jordan Rogers continues preaching verse-by-verse through The Gospel of John in this sermon from John 5:1-18 entitled, “Two Reasons the Religious Hated Jesus.”
John’s purpose in John 5:1-18 is to record the reasons for which the Jews wanted to kill Jesus, particularly that He violated their Sabbath traditions and He also claimed God as His Father (Divinity). In this, we see two reasons the religious hated Jesus. First, because Jesus abides by the will and Word of God, not the religious traditions of man. Second, because Jesus is the Son of God, equal with the Father in essence and authority.
The following is a sermon on John 5:1-18, and below you will find the video recording and a sermon outline to help you follow along as you watch. I hope this study tool helps you grow in your love for the Lord Jesus and in your obedience to Him.
