Agora Gallery New York artist Kelley Millet’s abstract expressionist paintings are awash in raw emotion, color, and tactility. A New York investment banker by day, Millet paints for the joy of self-expression and discovery, confronting the human psyche in a way that seems almost Freudian at times. His solo exhibition at Agora Gallery demonstrates his mastery of various techniques, including his adept use of gestural brushstrokes, consummate understanding of color, and ability to create texture through pigment.
Millet’s gift for conveying emotion and experience is evident when viewing his work. One can’t help but feel the passion, fury, trepidation, aspiration, family bonds and sense of isolation, depression and elation, “gushing from within” the artist and onto the canvas. There is this feeling of release to Millet's paintings, an ability to shed one’s public mask and simply exist in the moment, which inspired Agora Gallery’s exhibition title of "Free Falling."
It is this capacity to approach painting with a sense of naked humility, sincerity, and authenticity that lends Millet's work emotional impact and sets it apart from that of other artists.

Millet's life as a NYC investment bank CEO and nonprofit Board Director, and his athletic accomplishments (running the NYC marathon for his fiftieth birthday) have played a major role in fueling his art. The contrast between his professional life and inner emotions inspires him to pursue creative expression. As a result, his work is deeply honest, full of raw emotions, humility, and personality.
Kelley Millet currently lives with his wife Erika and daughter Karis and creates in Old Brookville, Long Island.
