Every year on the 24th of November, thousands of Ethiopian Orthodox Christians make the pilgrimage to the Church of our Lady Mary of Zion in a festival known as the Festival of Maryam Zion. It is claimed by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church that the Ark of the Covenant, in which the Ten Commandments lie, is held in the Church of our Lady Mary of Zion.
