Kenyans have been called upon to embrace peace and unity especially at a time when the country is still healing from a divisive electioneering period. The chairman of the Kenya conference of Catholic Bishops and Homa Bay diocese Bishop Phillip Anyolo said yesterday at Central Primary school grounds in Malindi during the requiem mass of the late Malindi diocese Bishop Emannuel Barbara which was presided over by Cardinal John Njue. The bishop says the divisive politics currently playing out do not bode well for the country . Bishop Anyolo was accompanied by Cardinal John Njue, Mombasa Archbishop Martin Kivuva among other bishops plus hundreds of priests and faithful who paid their last respects to the departed bishop. The late bishop's relatives including his nephew Christopher Buttigieg and niece Josette Zammit also attended the ceremony after travelling from Malta. Cardinal Njue said the sudden death of the bishop is a wakeup call to all Christians to prepare spiritually . The bishop's body will be flown to Malta in Europe for burial on January 25. Kilifi women rep Getrude Mbeyu and Lamu West MP Stanley Muthama attended the ceremony.
