Research Team 316, Instantaneous Project Control Systems, documented that the implementation of near-real-time and reliable reporting functions was being leveraged as a strategic business advantage. Such instantaneous functions maximized the chances for obtaining the expected return on an investment and helped the organization to improve efficiency, mitigate risks, increase transparency and accountability, achieve increased competitiveness in the global marketplace, and, above all, enhance the reliability of decisions.
In this plenary session to the 2015 CII Annual Conference, Douglas E. Weaver from Walbridge showed evidence that advanced and innovative organizations avoided decisions made in a "time lag" mode, with today's decision based on yesterday's – or even worse, last month's – data.
