We took on another long drive for a bike trip at Bukit Selantai in Mersing, Johor, in the southern part of Peninsular Malaysia. Bukit Selantai that has it owns characteristic which gave us a new riding experience on the different terrain. Due to its location which is very close to the beach, the hill itself are mostly rocky and yet rooty at the same time. The soil of the trails are not kind of packed soil that we would normally found in Bukit Dinding or Bukit Kiara but rather loose with sand and stones.
Apart from that, we also found certain sections of the trails at Bukit Selantai are very steep. We thought our Fukuyu trail is tight and steep but now we know that the trails here are tighter, steeper and gnarly. Shredding the trails here gave us a different experience which good to gauge again our technical skills.
We started off with the Kelek Anak trail and followed by Jalan Pak Salleh before we stopped for an awesome Asam Pedas lunch. We continued with the more adrenaline pumping trails which are Jalur 110% and Jalur Babi.
We are mostly thankful for Bukit Selantai trailbuilders lead by Bita Amir who patiently guided all of our riders in the trails.
Definitely, Bukit Selantai offers a different riding experience on a mountain where the land meets the ocean. Taking photos with your MTB on the ledge with an amazing panaromic beach view is absolutely something not to be missed. Go visit Bukit Selantai!
