Our full tour and review on the 2022 Kia Carnival SX goes over absolutely everything potential buyers would want to know if they're in the market for a new minivan. The 4th generation Kia minivan adopts its global name for the North American market, bringing a completely updated exterior and interior design. The 2022 Kia Carnival comes with full LED headlights, LED turn signals, and LED daytime running lights. Kia says they've designed this Life Utility Vehicle with SUV styling, and we can definitely see it. It's not a copy of Kia's current vehicles, but some design traits are inspired by the newest vehicles from the South Korean manufacturer.
We go over all the technical information like the 3.5L V6 engine, FWD, 8 speed automatic transmission, and the features found on this top-end SX trim. US buyers will be looking at the SX Prestige which offers the same features as the Canadian-market SX. The Kia Carnival come with all the enhanced safety technology we expect to find at this price point, including Kia's new navigation-based smart cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitor, blind spot view, rear cross traffic alert, safe exit system, and a new passenger-view interior camera.
We jump into the second row VIP seats on this top-end 2022 Kia Carnival SX Prestige and talk about the power reclining, lounge seats, ventilated and heated options for the front and second rows, dual sunroofs, tri-zone automatic climate control, second and third row side window sunshades, and the configurability of the rear seating. The VIP mode on the Kia Carnival allows the second row captain's chairs to slide inward and backward to extend the legroom by feet, allowing the two seats to recline backwards with power foot rests.
We spend time talking about the front seating, including the driver memory options, dual 12.3" screens for infotainment and the driver cluster, a Bose audio system, wireless phone charging, selectable drive modes, LED interior lighting, and more.
We then take the 2022 Kia Carnival on a comprehensive real-world road test to go over our independent fuel economy results, how the vehicle performs, handles, drives, and rides, and the reasons you're going to want to consider this minivan over others in the segment, along with similarly priced 3-row crossovers. We talk about our impressions on the 3.5L V6 engine and our only real suggestion of the addition of a hybrid engine choice for buyers.
