Description: If Private and Govt hospitals refuse to provide free treatment to victims of acid attack may incur an imprisonment. The Supreme Court in a recent decision has directed banning of sale of acid and has specified that free treatment means availability of medicines, food and bed in the concerned hospital. The bench directed hospitals where the victim is treated first to issue a certificate which certifies that the individual was an acid attack victim. This certificate can be utilised for treatment, reconstructive surgeries or any other scheme to which the victim is entitled to.
