Runaway leaders Corinthians host relegation threatened Coritiba in Thursday’s Brazilian Serie A clash.

The encounter looks a perfect one for the hosts to return to winning ways in, as they seek to defend their 8 point lead at the summit. The side have been by far and away the most impressive team in the division this season, picking up an average of 2.11 points a game, scoring an average of 1.38 a game and conceding an average of just 0.57 per match, and having had over a week to rest they should be in optimum condition ahead of the meeting.

Visitors Coritiba are certainly not enjoying such a season, and find themselves at real risk of relegation to Serie B. The team won 4 of their opening 5 games, but have only picked up the three points in 3 of the following 21 games, free falling to their current second bottom standing, 3 points adrift of safety.
