The James Webb space telescope began its 3-month long mirror alignment and send its first images on 11 February. The primary mirrors on the JWST need to align the 18 hexagonal mirrors with a precision of 1/10,00th of a human hair. There are 7 steps/phases in the mirror alignment process, out of which 3 are completed and 4 remains. All these 7 steps should be completed without any hiccups so that we can witness its first beautiful images of space. This video explains all the 7 mirror alignment steps in detail.
