Winter sowing is basically making little greenhouses for each variety of seed sown, out of milk jugs. The sun, snow, rain and fluctuating winter temperatures does all the work for you. This was my first-year winter sowing. I found that certain seeds are happier with this method than others based on how old they were. I cut a milk jug in half on three sides, and puncture drainage holes in the bottom. I fill the bottom half of the jug with moistened potting soil. I add my seeds and a plant label tag, spray well with water, duct tape the jug closed and label again on the tape. left them outside in Jan -40c. opened them on May Long weekend and they are doing amazing.
