North Carolina state Rep. Tricia Cotham - who flipped from Democrat to Republican - voted in favor of a House bill that would bar transgender females from competing in middle and high school sports if passed into law.
Cotham notably ran her Democratic campaign claiming to champion several progressive ideals, including LGBTQ rights and inclusion. She has thus far not responded to requests for comment on this decision from WCNC Charlotte.
