We take a POV ride on all 8x of the escalators in Manchester City Centre’s Selfridges department store. They are all O&K / Kone RTV-T escalators built at the Keighley, England 🏴 factory. The lower 6 were built in 1999 and they feature the O&K KONE branding used until 2000.
Strangely enough, the upper floor was actually added after the store’s opening, those escalators were built in 2001 so they feature just the newer Kone logo. They’re all the same type, and the same thing was done in the adjoining M&S store (the top floor was added in 2001/2). You can see out to the M&S store at the end as it’s in the same main building…

This video was taken about 20 minutes before closing time on a typical weekday. These stores get incredibly busy most of the time. However, despite being 25 years old, these escalators look and run absolutely perfectly and sound brilliant. They are really well made and have been maintained properly too. 👍
