In this video, I'm going to take you on a little journey after I had the pistons replaced in my Volvo S60. Several car manufacturers had a bad oil ring design on the piston where they would get clogged up with carbon deposits and stop working properly. Oil would get left on the cylinder walls and get burned off, so you would end up using multiple quarts of oil between oil changes. Volvo had an extended warranty for this issue that allowed you to have the pistons (and rings) replaced for free as part of the warranty, once your car was confirmed to have this issue. Mine did, and year after I started the journey to get the pistons replaced, I finally got them replaced. The experience wasn't painless. I had issues with my car that were due to a vacuum hose coming off, and got those resolved. I also had excessive vibration from the engine coming into the cabin and shaking the car. That was mostly resolved when a bad motor mount was replaced. My engine is not the same as it was before though. It has a roughness to it that it didn't have before. It seems like that could potentially be how the Volvo 2.0 engines are with the new style pistons. I wanted to document my experience though, and for those that have had this done also, encourage you to share your experience.
