If you are a nature lover, consider making a special trip to Al-Asfar Lake or the Yellow Lake in the heart of Al-Ahsa’s desert areas.
It is possible to reach the site in a two-wheel drive car but there are a lot of incidence two-wheel drive cars getting stuck there, so please be cautious and have a four-wheel drive car along. A four-wheel drive car would be better but this still does not guarantee getting stuck although a number of well used tracks go to and around the lake and if you stick to these you should be alright. Its also recommended to go in groups cos the off roads are quite confusing.. You can even go with tour guides to find the location easily.. However once you reach it you will enjoy the magnificent beauty of the lake and surroundings.
We went to Yellow Lake from Khobar around 2PM and reached there by 4:30PM..The off roads were quite confusing and we could see small parts of the lake on the way.. And there were not many people on the way.. We finally reached the Lake by 5 30PM and had to go up small sand dunes and could view the beautiful sunset and its reflection on the lake .. We spent about 1 to 2 hours there and By the time we left from there it was dark and hard to find the main road , also there isn't range there.. But after driving on for some time we found the main road back to Khobar..
