►Average ambulance response times in England were the longest on record.
The latest figures from NHS England paint a bleak picture of the health service's emergency care. In December a record number of patients attended A&E, more than 2.2 million. Just 65% of people were seen within 4 hours, the target is 95%.
In December there were a record number of 999 calls answered by call handlers - more than a million and response times were the worst on record.
