During World War 2 German engineers utilized a prototype to create a remote control mine. This was a tracked vehicle known as the Goliath (Sd. Kfz 302). The remote mine was controlled by the operator and driven to its target where between 50-100 kilograms of explosives were detonated eliminating the target. But it was not all success for the Goliath and the remote control mine would need to overcome a number of flaws. But ultimately German engineering would see over 7500 manufactured through out World War 2.
