Richard Spaven, one of the most innovative drummers of his generation and has managed to shape his own musical identity and voice as a drummer.

With his latest album, “Sole Subject”, Richard has created a captivating crossover of electronica, hip-hop, and jazz, exploring the nuanced relationship between live drumming and electronic elements. At the core of the album are the drums, captured as full live takes which often blur the lines, appearing as if they were programmed or sampled.

Recorded at the renowned RAK Studios with his Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple, we had the chance to visit Rich in this iconic space and capture his performance of the track “Allied”.
