What Says is a part of the Orton Gillingham lesson designed to use auditory and kinesthetic senses to connect sounds with letters.
The teacher has the student repeat the sound to be sure that he/she heard it correctly before the student writes the corresponding letter/letters. Notice that the sounds should be "clipped" so that no "uh" sound follows the sound of the consonant.
Also notice an example of positive error correction when the teacher puts the letters in a familiar word on the whiteboard to guide the student to the correct sound/letter sequence.
